Research has its ups and downs. Somedays everything goes as well or better than ever you could hope for. Other days nothing works for no apparent reason. Today was neither of these two types of days.

Today, we finally obtained the parts needed to add a pump that we could use to control the volumetric flow of our coating test solution. We had been eager to replace our pressure driven flow source due to its inaccuracy, and this seemed like a better option. After nearly a week of planning, I ran the first test on the new system. This test gave results that perplexed me, as our coating appeared to vary in properties periodically. This was confusing to me, until it wasn’t. After a realization, it all made sense.
